Asia Argento is an Italian actor and director of films who is a member of the largest family with both. She has pursued these two careers for herself. Aged nine, Asia made her film debut with Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. In 1988 she had her role as the main character in the debut film of Cristina Comencini, Zoo (1988), as well as being one of the actors in The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. Red Wood Pigeon, directed also by Moretti in 1989, was her part in the role of Nanni Moretti's daughter. Close Friends (1992) by Michele Placido (both writer and director) was the point at which Asia truly began to take off. This let her progress from roles that were primarily young girls to more complicated adult characters. It was received well in the Cannes International Film Festival. The year 1999 was the year that Asia began her film-directing career with Scarlet Diva (2000), in which she was the leading actress and author for the script. The film premiered on 20 May, 2000, in Italy and around the globe. This film was awarded by the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. In 2001, following the directing of numerous music videos the actress gave birth to the first of her daughters, Anna Lou. She was in 2002 on the screen as The Red Siren by Olivier Megaton alongside Jean-Marc Bar and the action thrilledirected of Rob Cohen, with Vin Diesel.
